Predatory States

The democratic rule of law and legitimacy of the government in your home is being undermined. Your characters are regular people who may not fully agree on a vision for the future, but agree that your nation is being steered in a negative direction by authoritarian, reactionary forces and the foreign powers offer them support.

Action must be taken and reverse the tide, but your characters will likely face serious consequences because they have chosen to speak out. Sacrifice may be required to defeat such Predatory States...

What is Predatory States?

This game uses game mechanics from VEN6, Ironsworn, and the Push systems to create a new game that is friendly for solo play, cooperative storytelling, or a traditional TTRPG GM-led experience. It is ideal for short, story-arc length games or longer campaigns, but could certainly be played as a one-shot. The game contains a Session Zero walkthrough that would also allow for easier cooperative worldbuilding at setup.

Why Predatory States?

This game was released as a part of the “Kissinger is Dead Analogue Jam” in December of 2023. It is dedicated to the countless who were and still are victims of the United States of America’s foreign policy. 

While Predatory States is  loosely inspired by the events surrounding the rising juntas of South America in the 60s and 70s and Operation Condor, the fingerprints of officials and policy advisors like Kissinger can also be found humanitarian catastrophes happening in Cambodia, Bangladesh, Angola, Indonesia, East Timor, and the Western Sahara/Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic just to name a few prominent examples from Kissinger's time in government.
